BaySpec, founded in 2000 with 100% manufacturing in San Jose, California, U.S.A, is a vertically integrated spectral sensing company. We specialize in compact and miniaturize spectral devices. Over the years BaySpec has developed and commercialized many types of Raman spectrometers, with many configurations and excitation wavelengths. We have ‘downsized’ the Raman spectrometers, all the way from the sizes of Desktop, handheld (2010-the company invented a 1064 nm handheld Raman spectrometer), to wearable/key fob/wristwatch-size (2023). We have made long stride on making ultra-miniaturize Raman devices, whether by different sizes, functionalities, or different excitation wavelengths (Tunable excitation wavelengths also), et al.

BaySpec has been working with academic, development and industrial customers on promoting and applying highly miniaturized Raman devices into the application areas of food, pharma, health monitoring, biomedical/medical, and point of care. We are very versatile in supplying many spectral engines, including multiple wavelength excitations to Surface Enhanced Raman Scatter (SERS) sensing, and many are on diagnostics applications.

BaySpec brings the lab to the sample by designing and manufacturing a wide variety of advanced spectral instruments with an emphasis on light weight and low power consumption. Our miniature UV‐VIS‐NIR‐SWIR spectrometers, miniature spectral chemical sensors, hyperspectral imagers, fiber optics sensors, portable mass spectrometers, OEM spectral engines and components have been deployed in a wide range of markets such as Safety & Security, Food & Agriculture, Pharmaceuticals, Semiconductor, Healthcare, Telecommunications, and Research & Science. Our development of miniaturization provides many options in our Wearable line of Raman spectrometers from Nano-LB, Belt-Wearable, and wristwatch Ultra-Miniature Raman Spectrometers, with Dual-Port-Sampling with SERS Readers. These devices connect to any smartphone tunable with excitations for fluorescence rectifications.

Further details on small devices such as the Keyfob Raman has 630/645/785/830 nm excitations while the Raman ranges from 630nm –1000nm, covering 200 cm-1 to 2500cm-1 Raman range. The wearable devices offer side and top sampling, and can measure liquids, solids, and vapors, depending upon your application. This device platform can be also turned into a mini analyzer by combining with various SERS substrate- a SERS reader which provide a full analytics solution.

The SERS readers feature proprietary miniaturized optics, highly efficient detectors, and maximum sensitivity with ultrafast acquisition. The full fingerprint coverage and high resolution deliver the best-in-class performance in a variety of applications, from detection of illicit drugs, toxic industrial chemicals (TICs), pesticides, urine drug testing, microplastic detection, chemical warfare agents, biological warfare agents, explosives, infectious disease sensing, and many other detection applications.
